Abstract:
We'll discuss the processes and challenges of designing some of the world's most complex buildings and how adopting emerging technology can transform the design process. We'll explain how we're using NVIDIA Quaddro and RTX technologies to more efficiently manage collaboration and workflow for major international construction projects involving teams across the globe, and discuss how we're helping architects and engineers design buildings faster and more collaboratively. KPF, a leading multidisciplinary architectural practice, is pioneering a new approach to workflow that allows real-time rendering, collaborative VR and desktop virtualization.

Abstract:

During this session, we will present our development and exploration of multi user collaborative VR, using NVIDIA Holodeck, on large international projects. KPF has 7 global offices working as one large firm and with the increase for high level collaboration, we are continuously looking for ways to improve communication while reducing meeting and travel times. Testing remote collaborative VR environments to ensure our designs are communicated efficiently between teams and our stakeholders are especially valuable during the early fast iterative design stages of a project. This presentation should give you a real world overview of test cases for NVIDIA Holodeck on global projects.

The growth in density of housing in cities like London and New York has resulted in the higher demand for efficient smaller apartments. These designs challenge the use of space and function while trying to ensure the occupants have the perception of a larger space than provided. The process of designing these spaces has always been the responsibility and perception of a handful of designers using 2D and 3D static platforms as part of the overall building design and evaluation, typically constraint by a prescriptive program and functional requirement. A combination of human- and AI-based agents creating and testing these spaces through design and virtual immersive environments (NVIDIA Holodeck) will attempt to ensure the final results are efficient and best fit for human occupancy prior to construction.
